The film ‘Stolen’, now available on Prime Video, has become a global success due to its intriguing storyline and excellent performances. Actor Abhishek Banerjee, director Karan Tejpal, and producer Gaurav Dhingra share the story of creating ‘Stolen’, the challenges with its release, and the support it received from the industry.

Abhishek Banerjee discussed the distinctive nature of his role in ‘Stolen’. He was committed to the script’s intentions, unlike commercially designed films where audience responses are frequently predicted. The film’s real-time nature was very important.

Director Karan Tejpal mentioned the importance of coordination, rehearsal, and practice in the intense scenes. He emphasized how challenging it was and that the team had embraced them as an important part of the film. The support of Gaurav and the actors brought the film to life. The crew of the film got quickly onboard with this style of shooting.

Karan also talked about filming the tough mob scenes. He talked about the pre-planning and rehearsing. He praised Abhishek for rehearsing with the crowd again and again until they got the scene right. Those people were non-actors and the scene was filmed in three takes.

‘Stolen’ was praised in many film festivals, but getting the film released in India was difficult. Support from the industry helped the film get its OTT release on Prime Video.

Producer Gaurav Dhingra talked about how they knew they made a good film. The frustration was in getting the film out there to be viewed. He also added how happy he was with the global success of the film.

Abhishek discussed the industry support. Despite the negativity, the film received support from directors like Nikkhil Advani, Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Kiran Rao. Amazon Prime Video also supported the film.

Gaurav added that the support from the directors and Amazon Prime Video played an important part in the film’s release.

Abhishek stated that ‘Stolen’ is the beginning of a new era, with a new way of making action films. He believes there will soon be a ‘Stolen Two’ which will be released in theatres.
