Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s engagement with Kaja Kallas, EU High Representative, marked a new chapter in India-EU relations during their South Block meeting on Tuesday. The presence of India’s three service chiefs amplified the strategic weight of discussions on enhanced defense collaboration.
Rooted in common principles like democracy and rule of law, the partnership aims to drive global stability initiatives. Singh advocated converting these values into actionable partnerships for development and prosperity. Dialogues explored robust defense infrastructures, supply integration, and forward-looking capacities.
Singh later shared his satisfaction with the bilateral security-focused talks, spotlighting opportunities in reliable ecosystems and supply chains. Defense pundits foresee immense scope for India-EU synergy, essential for worldwide security architecture.
The meeting featured Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Navy Chief Adm Dinesh Tripathi, IAF Chief ACM AP Singh, and CDS Gen Anil Chauhan. Alignment of industrial efforts was stressed to bolster Atmanirbhar Bharat alongside EU’s autonomy pursuits.
Expressing gratitude for Republic Day honors, Kallas highlighted the pride in EU’s parade participation. She proposed Indo-Pacific teamwork via exercises and welcomed the EU officer posting at IFC-IOR, Gurugram, to sharpen anti-piracy and threat responses.
Sessions also tackled regional dynamics, production advancements, tech partnerships, and collective future-proofing. Backdropped by EU leadership at Republic Day and a formal military contingent under Col Frederick Simon Spruijt, these talks herald sustained, trust-based cooperation.
