Wild Dog (Dhole), Black Swan, Grey Pelican, Monitor Lizard, Alexandrine Parakeet, and Barn Owl brought from Indira Gandhi Biological Park to Ranchi.
The wildlife exchange program between Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park, Ranchi, and Indira Gandhi Biological Park, Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), has been successfully completed. The process was carried out safely in accordance with the guidelines and prescribed standards of the Central Zoo Authority.
Under the program, a Himalayan black bear, spotted dove, silver pheasant, and gharial were sent from Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park, Ranchi, to Visakhapatnam. In return, a wild dog (dhole), black swan, grey pelican, monitor lizard, Alexandrine parakeet, and barn owl were brought from Indira Gandhi Biological Park to Ranchi.
Shri Jabbar Singh, Director of Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park, stated that the arrival of new species in the biological park is crucial for biodiversity conservation. The objective of this exchange program is to increase species diversity, strengthen genetic balance, and ensure scientific cooperation in the conservation of endangered species. He added that such collaborative programs contribute effectively to research, conservation, and management among various biological parks in the country.
On this occasion, Assistant Conservator of Forests Shri Ashok Kumar Singh, Veterinary Officer Dr. Om Prakash Sahu, Forest Range Officer Smt. Gayatri Devi, Senior Biologist Vivekananda Kumar, Forest Guards Shri Rakesh, Shri Shashi Bhushan, Shri Mukesh Kumar, Smt. Manita Kachhap, along with the park’s animal keepers and other staff, were present.
