Security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district have achieved a significant success by neutralizing three Naxalites, who were reportedly carrying a combined bounty of Rs 15 lakh. The operation took place on Sunday morning in the Tumalpad village forest area, falling under the Bhejji and Chintagufa police station boundaries. The forces acted swiftly upon receiving specific intelligence regarding Maoist presence.

The Naxalites identified were Madvi Deva, an area committee member; Podiam Gangi, the commander of the Maoist cultural outfit CNM; and Sodhi Gangi, an area committee member associated with the Kistaram region. The encounter commenced as security personnel conducted a search operation based on intelligence inputs, leading to a prolonged exchange of fire.

Following the intense gunfight, the bodies of the three Naxalites, two of whom were women, were recovered. The Inspector General of Police for Bastar Range stated that comprehensive search operations are continuing in the vicinity. The recovered items from the scene include a variety of weapons and explosives.

Key items seized include Barrel Grenade Launchers (BGLs), VGA launchers, a 303 rifle, and other associated ammunition. This successful operation is part of a broader strategy to combat insurgency, with the Bastar range alone having seen 233 Naxalites neutralized this year. These efforts align with the national objective to eradicate Naxal-Maoist influence.
