An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Naxalites detonated in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district on Sunday, injuring a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan. The blast happened at 1:45 PM in the Gogunda forested hills, an area under the Fulbagdi police station. The injured jawan, a member of the CRPF’s 74th Battalion, was on patrol when he accidentally triggered a pressure IED, sustaining injuries to both legs. Following prompt first aid at the location, he was airlifted to Raipur for further medical management. The Bastar region, including Sukma, remains a hotspot for Maoist insurgency, with IEDs frequently used as a weapon of choice against security personnel conducting operations in remote areas. The danger extends to the local population, as evidenced by past civilian casualties from similar explosive devices.
