Sullivan Warns of Damage to US-India Ties Due to Trump’s Tariffs, Citing China’s Growing Influence

Jake Sullivan, a former U.S. National Security Advisor, has expressed disapproval of the Trump administration’s tariff policies against India. He warned that these trade actions are pushing U.S. allies toward China. Sullivan claims that the trade measures have reversed the progress made in cultivating a stronger relationship between India and the United States. Speaking on the Bulwark podcast, Sullivan stated that the American brand is facing challenges globally, exemplified by India’s changed perspective. He indicated that India is now considering partnering with China to offset the impact of the U.S.’s trade strategy. Vikas Swarup, a former diplomat, observed that the current relationship is not strong, but there is still time for the two sides to find a mutually acceptable solution.
