Sundar on India’s South Africa Test Performance

Washington Sundar has shared his thoughts on India’s disappointing batting performance in the second Test against South Africa, calling for a resilient and positive approach. India faces a daunting 314-run deficit after being bundled out for 201, a situation Sundar attributed to execution not aligning with the team’s plans. He defended the aggressive shots played by Pant and Jurel, highlighting that the success of such strokes is often situational. “That’s how it is,” Sundar commented, adding, “Sometimes you just have to back their plans and their skill sets.” Sundar, who was the top scorer with 48 while batting at number eight, reiterated his commitment to fulfilling any role assigned to him by the team. He clarified that the team did not set any specific run-rate goals for the innings, focusing instead on playing a conventional Test match innings and adjusting strategy as needed.
