Sunny Deol is presently engaged with his forthcoming film ‘Border 2,’ scheduled for release on January 26th, while also working on ‘Lahore 1947.’ Rajkumar Santoshi directs the film, with Aamir Khan as producer and Preity Zinta in the lead role. In a recent interview, Deol shared details about ‘Lahore 1947,’ revealing the origins of this historical drama.

During an interview, Sunny Deol shared how the idea for ‘Lahore 1947’ came about. He stated that he and Rajkumar Santoshi had been discussing the topic for years and that it became feasible after the success of ‘Gadar.’ Aamir Khan later showed interest in the project, resulting in a collective agreement.

Sunny further discussed the film’s emotional subject and character depth. He described the movie as a drama adaptation, with expectations for a prompt release. Based on Asghar Wajahat’s play ‘Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamyai Ni’, the film is set during the Partition and tells the story of a Muslim family relocating from Lucknow to Lahore, assigned a haveli previously inhabited by a Hindu family. However, the plot thickens as the Hindu family refuses to leave.

‘Lahore 1947’ features Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Karan Deol in key roles. The film is targeted for release this year. Simultaneously, Sunny Deol will also appear in ‘Border 2,’ the sequel to the original ‘Border’. ‘Border 2,’ directed by JP Dutta, will feature Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty and will be released on January 22, 2026.
