Canada’s Toronto now hosts India’s One Stop Centre for Women (OSCW), a vital resource freshly launched by the Consulate General of India. Fully up and running, it targets Indian-origin women grappling with crises like crime, finance woes, or personal exploitation.

Speaking to Radio Canada International, Acting Consul General Kapidhwaj Pratap Singh underscored the center’s purpose: to connect women with legal, financial, and emotional aid efficiently. “Domestic violence, dowry demands, and abuse are common challenges; we’re here to help overcome them,” he stated.

Cultural and social stigmas deter many from local help, but OSCW provides a familiar, supportive space. Open to students, workers, visitors, and residents, it has drawn over 12 inquiries since its December 26 inception.

The center delivers prompt counseling, mental health support, legal guidance, and community resource access, fully compliant with Canadian regulations. Financial help further strengthens its impact.

This proactive measure by India signals strong commitment to its diaspora women, ensuring safety and empowerment abroad. As stories of success emerge, OSCW sets a precedent for global consular innovation.
