Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD leader and Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, has celebrated the Supreme Court’s ruling on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list. He stated that the decision was a vindication of the opposition’s efforts, which included challenges in the legislature, parliament, and public spaces. He characterized the court’s interim order as a victory and highlighted that the court supported their demands regarding SIR. Yadav emphasized the importance of the court’s call for transparency, criticizing the Election Commission for its alleged attempts to conceal information. The court’s directives included mandating Aadhaar card usage and requiring a booth-wise display of the list of 6.5 million deleted names. The Supreme Court also ordered the Election Commission to provide the reasons behind the deletions, specifically noting whether individuals were deceased or untraceable. Yadav mentioned the court’s instruction for the commission to notify affected individuals through advertisements. He stated that the opposition would continue to fight to protect democracy. He discussed the efforts to assist the people of his constituency, Raghopur, in relation to voter registration issues, including their engagement with the Supreme Court. He framed the decision as a success for the people of Bihar, democracy, and the constitution.

He discussed the actions taken by the opposition, including a press conference on June 27th to discuss the SIR, the Election Commission’s timelines, and potential hidden agendas. He also mentioned the Bihar bandh on July 9th, which involved Rahul Gandhi. Yadav expressed his thanks to various opposition figures and their legal teams. He reaffirmed his commitment to the ongoing fight for democracy, constitutional rights, and voting integrity, highlighting their close monitoring of the implementation of the court’s decision. He said that the work would continue on digital platforms. He criticized the Election Commission’s failure to respond to accusations and projected a significant loss for the NDA in the upcoming elections. He also addressed the claims regarding infiltration within the voter list, stating they had not found any evidence to support those claims.
