Raipur, October 08, 2025/ 32 surrendered Maoists from Bijapur district, who have left the path of Maoism and returned to the mainstream society, have now taken a significant step towards development and self-employment. All of them have successfully completed a one-month special training in poultry and goat farming at the Regional Self-Employment Training Institute in Jagdalpur. Through this training, former Naxalites have not only learned scientific methods of animal husbandry but also the nuances of becoming successful entrepreneurs. During the one-month intensive training, surrendered Maoists were given every important information related to poultry and goat farming. Here they received training on selecting improved breeds, fodder management and balanced diet, vaccination, identification and treatment of diseases, as well as availing government schemes, obtaining loans, and strategies for bringing their products to the market.
One surrendered Maoist who received training expressed happiness and said that life in the jungle was very difficult and empty. The rehabilitation policy formulated on the initiative of the state’s Chief Minister, Mr. Vishnu Deo Sai, to connect surrendered Maoists with the mainstream society, is an innovative effort. With this, we can now work with our own hands to earn a stable and dignified livelihood for our families. This step by the government has given us a lot of courage.
