In the Indian automotive landscape, various SUVs compete for market share, with Mahindra vehicles being popular. August’s sales figures indicated a shift, as Mahindra experienced a sales decline while other SUVs gained traction. The Mahindra Scorpio achieved sales of 9,840 units last month, a 29% decrease from the 13,787 units sold in August 2024. The Tata Nexon took the lead with 14,004 units sold, indicating a 14% year-over-year increase and a 9% month-over-month rise. This performance highlights the Nexon’s strong position in the compact SUV market, surpassing the Scorpio. The Mahindra Scorpio Classic is priced approximately from ₹13.77 lakh to ₹17.72 lakh (ex-showroom), and the Scorpio N starts at ₹13.99 lakh. The Scorpio offers a 7-seater configuration, a 2.2L diesel engine, and manual transmission. Key features include dual airbags, ABS, rear parking sensors, steering-wheel-mounted controls, LED roof lighting, and manual central locking. The Tata Nexon ranges in price from ₹8.3 lakh to ₹17.2 lakh (ex-showroom), with petrol, diesel, and CNG engine choices. It features a 5-star BNCAP safety rating, six airbags, a panoramic sunroof, and a JBL sound system. The Nexon boasts a ground clearance of 208 mm, a 382-liter boot space, and a 44-liter fuel tank, with a mileage of 16.75 to 22.3 km per liter.
