The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, inaugurated the localized production of hybrid battery electrodes at the Suzuki Motor Plant in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and also initiated the export of the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, the company’s debut global battery electric vehicle, destined for over 100 countries. The e-Vitara was first unveiled in India in January 2025 at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Suzuki’s production capacity is substantial, with four plants in India capable of producing 2.6 million units annually. In FY25, the company exported more than 3.32 lakh vehicles and sold 19.01 lakh units within the domestic market. Beyond the e-Vitara, models like the Suzuki Fronx and Jimny have also achieved success in international markets. The e-Vitara will compete with the Hyundai Creta Electric. The e-Vitara will offer a rear-wheel-drive module in specific trims, a feature absent in the Hyundai Creta. According to previously released information, the e-Vitara will be equipped with a 75 kWh battery pack, with all-wheel drive available in the Empowered trim, in addition to a 12.3-inch screen and ADAS Level 2 safety features. The article compares the Tata Harrier EV with the Suzuki e-Vitara and the Hyundai Creta Electric. The e-Vitara, as Suzuki’s first EV, features ventilated seats, flexible boot space, and numerous modern features. It leverages the HEARTECT-e platform, designed from the ground up for EVs, emphasizing innovation, efficiency, and performance. The e-Vitara is powered by a 61 kWh Lithium-ion battery, rigorously tested for durability across extreme temperatures ranging from -30 °C to 60 °C, delivering an estimated range of about 500 km. Price comparisons are available in a table. The Hyundai Creta EV is another competitor in this segment. It will have 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh battery options, with a claimed range of up to 473 km. Compared to the Tata Harrier EV, the Creta EV may lack certain drive and off-road features, classifying it as a more conventional subcompact SUV.
