Uttarakhand’s law enforcement sprang into action following a violent attack on a young Kashmiri man in Vikas Nagar, Dehradun. The 18-year-old victim prompted intervention from the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, who met DGP Deepam Seth to demand accountability.

An FIR was promptly filed at the local station, invoking BNS provisions 117(2) and 352. Sanjay Yadav, the main perpetrator, is under arrest, and another person remains under the scanner. DGP Seth outlined a rigorous, impartial probe to deliver justice swiftly.

‘No room for communal intimidation or assaults,’ declared the DGP, pledging ironclad security for Kashmiri residents and students. Harsh penalties await the guilty, serving as a stark warning against future violations.

The association praised initial steps but flagged deeper issues like profiling and mob threats against diligent Kashmiris. They seek a transparent timeline for the investigation to punish offenders and restore faith.

Unease prevails among Kashmiri youth in Uttarakhand, with calls for peaceful coexistence. Police commit to delving deep into every detail, holding all responsible parties accountable without mercy.

This development highlights ongoing challenges in ensuring safety for migrants and minorities, urging proactive steps to nurture communal brotherhood in the hill state.
