  • With 22,889 new COVID-19 infections, India’s total cases rise to 99,79,447

    With 22,889 new COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, India’s total cases reached 99,79,447, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday.

    With 338 new deaths, the toll mounted to 1,44,789. According to the Union Health Ministry, the total number of active cases in the country reached 3,13,831. Meanwhile, the total discharged cases are at 95,20,827 with 31,087 new discharges in the last 24 hours.

    According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 15,89,18,646 samples tested for COVID-19 up to December 17. Of these 11,13,406 samples were tested Thursday.

    The Health Ministry on Friday said that country’s recovery rate is 95.31 per cent, the case fatality rate at 1.45 per cent, and the percentage of active cases is 3.24 per cent.

    Maharastra continues to be the worst affected country by the pandemic with 68,476 active cases followed by Kerala with 58,339 active cases.

    India recognised the COVID-19 threat early and pursued a scientific evidence-based approach to combat the situation, said Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan while addressing a virtual event by the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) and the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).

  • India’s total cases rise to 99,56,558 with 24,010 new infections in 24 hrs

     24,010 new COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours, India’s total cases have reached 99,56,558, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.

    With 355 new deaths, the toll mounted to 1,44,451. According to the Union Health Ministry, there are 3,22,366 total active cases in the country. The total number of discharged cases is at 94,89,740 with 33,291 new discharges in the last 24 hours. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 15,78,05,240 samples tested for COVID-19 up to December 16. Of these, 11,58,960 samples were tested on Wednesday.

    Maharashtra continues to the worst affected state by the pandemic, followed by Kerala.

    The Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan last week had said that COVID-19 has greatly magnified the need for building resilient health care systems and ensuring their indiscriminate, equitable access to all.

    We must do away with the status quo that got us here and settle for nothing less than strong health systems that protect everyone — now and in the future. It has been my long-standing belief that India has the ability to deliver to the world, a robust model for providing universal health coverage,” he said.

  • India’s total cases rise to 99,32,548 with 26,382 new infections in 24 hrs

    With 26,382 new Covid-19 infections and 387 new deaths in the last 24 hours, the total cases in India reached 99,32,548, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Wednesday.

    With 387 new deaths reported in the last 24 hours, the toll mounted to 1,44,096.

    The total active cases in the country are at 3,32,002. With 33,813 new discharges in the last 24 hours, total discharged cases reached 94,56,449. Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state by the pandemic with 72,458 active cases, followed by Kerala with 57,909 active cases.

    The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Wednesday said that a total of 15,66,46,280 samples tested for the novel coronavirus up to December 15. Of these, 10,85,625 samples were tested on Tuesday.
