Kissa Kursi Ka…But No CounterpointCongress leader Sushil Kumar Shinde recently claimed that the late Congressman Vilasrao Deshmukh once tried to dethrone the then CM Sharad Pawar. Shinde, the then Maharashtra Congress chief, claimed that Deshmukh surreptitiously made him sign a document, calling for Pawar’s removal as the CM. With Pawar on the stage, Shinde claimed that Pawar could not believe ’till the end’ how a ‘smart’ person like him could get trapped in such a way. Congress leaders are perplexed at Shinde’s claim and that too when Deshmukh is no more to counter it.Passion, Politics and a Friendly AdviceMNS chief Raj Thackeray’s moviemaking ambitions are not hidden. During a recent event, Raj revealed that he once wanted to quit politics and get into film production, but his film producer friend Sajid Nadiadwala advised him to stay in politics. Raj said that he was once very frustrated in Shiv Sena (when he was in the party and Uddhav Thackeray had begun leading it). The MNS chief said that Sajid told him that being a film producer was a very tough task and that ‘he would not be able to see Raj do what he does’.Kejriwal Set to Shift to a New BungalowAAP chief Arvind Kejriwal will move into bungalow number 5 on Ferozeshah Road in Lutyens’ Delhi on Friday, days after he resigned from the chief minister’s post. Third eye: Another trip, ‘kissa kursi ka’ in Delhi CM’s office, and Sharad says ‘together at home’ on Ajit
Another trip: Just back from a tour to the United States amid election season in Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana, Lok Sabha’s Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is likely to have a busy travel schedule ahead. Word has it that Gandhi may hold UStype outreach interactions in destinations such as Germany and Chile soon.
Kissa kursi ka’ in Delhi CM’s office: After assuming charge as Delhi CM on Monday, AAP leader Atishi placed an empty chair beside her CM’s chair, saying, “This chair belongs to Arvind Kejriwal. Today I took charge as the CM of Delhi. Today I have the same pain in my heart as Bharatji had. Just like Bharatji worked by keeping Lord Shri Ram’s sandals, I will take charge as CM for the next four months.” She exuded confidence in Kejriwal returning as Delhi CM after the next assembly elections, expected to be held in February. Opposition BJP and Congress have termed the move a ‘grave insult to constitutional rules’.
‘Together at home’, Sharad on Ajit: Nationalist Congress Party – Sharadchandra Pawar chief Sharad Pawar on Monday said he and nephew Ajit Pawar are “together as a family”, but made it clear that the latter was heading a different party. “We are together at home,” the veteran politician said at a presser. Arvind Kejriwal to join AAP’s Haryana poll campaign with roadshow in Jagadhri
New Delhi: AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal will join the party’s campaign in pollbound Haryana with a roadshow in the Jagadhri constituency on September 20, AAP national general secretary (organisation) Sandeep Pathak said on Thursday. He will also participate in 13 events across 11 districts, covering the Dabwali, Rania, Bhiwani, Meham, Kalayat, Assandh and Ballabhgarh constituencies, among others, in the coming days, Pathak said at a press conference.
“AAP national convenor Kejriwal has come out of jail after defeating the BJP’s conspiracy. Now he is fully prepared for the election campaign in Haryana and will start on September 20,” he said.
His further campaign schedule will be announced later, he added. Kejriwal resigned as Delhi chief minister after being released from Tihar jail last week in the excise policy case. He will have a hectic campaign schedule in Haryana, which goes to the polls on October 5.
The AAP is contesting all 90 seats in Haryana after talks with the Congress over a seatshare agreement broke down.
It is clear that “the BJP is going to be completely wiped out from Haryana”, Pathak claimed. The BJP has governed Haryana since 2014. “The BJP itself did not trust its chief minister, so they removed Manohar Lal Khattar and made Nayab Singh Saini the new chief minister. The question that arises is why did the BJP need to bring in a new chief minister in the last year (of its term)?” Pathak asked.
Alleging that unemployment was at its peak in Haryana and inflation was recordbreaking, he stressed that there was rampant “misgovernance” in the state.
“Haryana first gave a chance to one party for five years, then to another for 10 years and then 10 years to a third party. Haryana gave a chance to all the parties, there is no party in Haryana that can say they have not got A chance. No one can complain,” Pathak said.
Claiming that the other parties failed to serve the people, he said the voters were fed up with all the outfits.
“This time, for the first time, Arvind Kejriwal has come to Haryana with AAP. So, a new and great option for change is in front of the people of Haryana. They have seen the work done by AAP in Punjab, and have seen the government of Delhi. After seeing everything, the people will go for a change and vote for Arvind Kejriwal’s new and honest politics,” he said.
Elections to the 90member Haryana Assembly will be held on October 5 and the results declared on October 8.

CBI arrests Arvind Kejriwal from Tihar jail in excise policy case |
After examination of Arvind Kejriwal at the Tihar Jail, CBI arrests Delhi CM. According to ANI, Central Bureau of Investigation examined Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal in Tihar Jail and recorded his statement related to the Excise Policy case. CBI also got permission for Arvind Kejriwal’s production before the concerned trial court tomorrow. He will be produced before the court tomorrow.
On Tuesday, the Delhi HC stayed the trial court order granting bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal while allowing the Directorate of Enforcement’s (ED) plea seeking a stay on the Trial Court order in the excise policy money laundering case.
The vacation bench of Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain, while passing the order, said that documents and arguments were not appreciated properly by the trial court. This court is of the view that the trial court has not applied its mind and has not considered the material properly.
The bench had reserved the order on June 21 after the agency challenged the trial court’s decision, which has been put on hold until the ruling. Meanwhile, the Court has already fixed the main matter for July, where ED challenged the trial court order granting Arvind Kejriwal regular bail in the case.
On Monday, ED filed written submissions before the Delhi High Court opposing any relief to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the Excise Policy money laundering case. ED opposed the trial court order granting bail to Kejriwal and called the order illegal and perverse.

Ex-Pak PM Imran Khan invokes Arvind Kejriwal’s bail in Pakistan Supreme Court, here’s why? , World News
Jailed former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan has invoked the case of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal getting bail to campaign ahead of India’s general elections, as he complained before the Supreme Court about the mistreatment met to him in jail. During his appearance on Thursday before a five-member Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa in a case related to amendments to the National Accountability Ordinance (NAO), the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman complained of the “victimisation” that he faced since his ouster from power in April 2022.
Justices Aminuddin Khan, Jamal Khan Mandokhel, Athar Minallah, and Syed Hasan Azhar Rizvi also sat on the bench. Justice Minallah remarked that it was unfortunate that Khan was in jail as he was the head of a large party with millions of followers.
Khan, complaining of oppression against him, pointed out that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was released on bail by the apex court ahead of the Indian general elections for campaigning for his party but he was facing oppression in Pakistan which was under undeclared “martial law”.
Khan, 71, complained that he was convicted within five days to keep him away from the general elections which were held on February 8. Khan also expressed dismay over the Supreme Court’s judgment rejecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s government plea requesting the live streaming of the case.
“You wrote [in the judgment] that I did political point scoring during the last hearing. I did not get it, what political scoring did I resort to,” the PTI founder asked the CJP Isa. At this, Chief Justice Isa said a judge does not owe an explanation to anyone over the verdict. “You can file a review petition,” the top judge said.
He also asked the former premier to speak only about the pending matter before the court. Lamenting political victimisation, the PTI founder said the Supreme Court should appoint a chairman for the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the anti-corruption watchdog.
“When the Opposition and government fail to evolve consensus on the name of NAB chairman appointment then a ‘third umpire’ makes the decision,” he said, adding that the anti-graft body is working under the “third umpire”. Addressing the PTI founder, Justice Minallah said: “Khan sahib, there was no reason to declare the NAB amendments invalid.”
Khan said he was currently facing NAB inquiries and called for improvement in the anti-corruption body.
After Justice Minallah reminded Khan about the issue of the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner, he said restoring the amendment would help him in the NAB cases, however, the country “will become bankrupt”.
CJP Isa also barred the PTI founder from citing Islamabad High Court (IHC) verdict in the cipher cases and said the appeal in the case might be filed in the apex court.
“Why did not you oppose the NAB amendments in Parliament,” asked Justice Rizvi. Khan cited the circumstances and said his government was toppled via conspiracy and that he did not want to respond to the “conspiratorial government” in Parliament.
Khan also asked the court to compare the facilities given to him in jail with the facilities given to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif. However, in a lighter vein, Justice Mandokhel said the elder Sharif was not in jail at the moment, “Do you want us to send him to jail?” The chief justice remarked the court would arrange a surprise visit by the judicial officer.

DNA: Analyzing Possibilities Of President's Rule In Delhi |
New Delhi: Delhi's liquor scandal has become a major headache for the Aam Aadmi Party with three prominent leaders already behind bars and now Delhi Arvind Kejriwal in ED custody till March 28.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was taken into custody by the ED in March 2022 in connection with the liquor scam case. Vijay Nair, the Communication Head of the Aam Aadmi Party, was arrested by the ED in November 2022. Additionally, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh was apprehended by the ED on October 4, 2023. Most recently, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was detained by the ED after questioning on the night of March 21, 2024.
Following the arrest of the Delhi CM, the question of how the government will function in the national capital, or whether President's rule will be imposed, is now at the forefront of people's minds.
In Today's DNA, Zee News anchor Sourabh Raaj Jain analyzed the conditions of the President's rule in the national capital as Delhi CM goes to ED's custody.
Following the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, discussions have arisen regarding the potential imposition of the President's rule in Delhi. Experts speculate about the circumstances under which this could occur. If Kejriwal remains adamant about governing from jail and refuses to resign, the Lieutenant Governor may opt for the imposition of President's rule as a last resort.

Two primary grounds could justify the imposition of President's rule in Delhi. Firstly, if the government is deemed incapable of functioning by the Constitution, whether in a union territory or a full state. Secondly, if the state government consistently fails to implement directives from the central government, thereby necessitating intervention.
Under Article 239 AA of the Constitution, the Lieutenant Governor can recommend to the President the suspension of the government in Delhi. Additionally, under Article 239 AB, the Lieutenant Governor can attribute the breakdown of constitutional machinery as grounds for the imposition of the President's rule.
Considering Delhi's status as a union territory, the role of the Lieutenant Governor becomes pivotal. Failure to resign by Kejriwal could prompt the Lieutenant Governor to cite a breakdown in the constitutional machinery. Consequently, Kejriwal may be forced to step down as Chief Minister.
Article 356 of the Constitution allows for the imposition of President's rule in any state if the constitutional machinery fails or faces significant challenges. With Kejriwal in custody and the Aam Aadmi Party's leadership depleted, the Lieutenant Governor may move to impose President's rule in Delhi.

“BJP trying to send everyone behind bars”: AAP leader Gopal Rai hits out at BJP
New Delhi: Delhi Minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai took a jab at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday and accused the BJP of misusing central agencies.
He said that the BJP is trying to send everyone behind bars so that no one can raise questions about the party.
“BJP is not talking about electoral bonds, they hid a lot of things in the past 10 years, including how they misused central agencies, conducted raids and collected donations. Even goons don't do this type of vasooli. Now the truth is out According to me, nobody in this country has ever done such a big scam, by misusing central agencies,” said the AAP leader.”The BJP needs to tell the truth to the people and because of this fear, the BJP is trying to send everyone behind bars so that nobody will ask any questions. The BJP can get political leaders locked up but not people. They will seek answers,” added Rai.
Earlier in the day, after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal skipped the ED summons, Gopal Rai accused the BJP of pressuring the probe agencies to send summons to the AAP chief.
“The summons are politically motivated. ED and CBI send summons due to pressure from the BJP. The Delhi CM has time and again said that it is illegal. ED approached the court, saying that the summons was legal. The court granted bail to Arvind Kejriwal). Why are they so restless to send summonses again and again. Let the court decide if it is illegal or legal,” Gopal Rai told on Monday. This came after Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal did not appear before. the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in connection with the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) money laundering probe on Monday.Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party lashed out at the Delhi CM and said that the Delhi Jal Board case is bigger than the liquor scam.
Kejriwal has so far skipped eight previous summons issued by the ED in the Delhi Excise Policy case on March 4, February 26, February 19, February 2, January 18, January 3, November 2 and December 22, calling them “illegal and politically motivated. .”
The ED wants to record Kejriwal's statement in the case on issues like the formulation of policy, meetings held before it was finalized, and allegations of bribery.

AAP-Congress Alliance In Delhi Uncertain: ‘Let’s See,’ Says Kejriwal After Blaming Delays |
New Delhi: The AAP and the Congress were “too late” in their talks over seat sharing in Delhi for Lok Sabha polls, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Wednesday, amid reports by sources in both sides that the prospects of an alliance have faced a setback. On Tuesday, Kejriwal had said that talks for seat sharing in the national capital were in “final stages” and a partnership between the two parties would be declared soon. There are seven Lok Sabha seats in Delhi currently held by the BJP.
News agency PTI citing sources in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) reported that if the alliance did not materialize with the Congress, the party could announce its candidates in the next few days. When questioned by reporters on the likelihood of alliance with the Congress in Delhi, Kejriwal said, “It is too late, it should have occurred much earlier. Let us see what happens in the next one-two days.”
Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh Lovely said that the party is ready for elections on all the seven constituencies in Delhi. “The committee headed by Mukul Vasnik is constantly talking to the members of the INDIA bloc. It would not be proper for me to comment about that,” he told reporters.
Sources said despite several rounds of talks between the leaders of two parties, a consensus over number of seats to be fought by them was yet to be reached. Congress sources claimed that the party wanted to fight four of the seven Lok Sabha seats and leave the rest for the AAP.
“This is justified as in the 2019 polls, the Congress candidates were second on six of the seven seats in Delhi while AAP candidates were on third place except for South Delhi constituency,” said a senior Delhi Congress leader.
Although AAP leaders remained silent on seat sharing, sources in the party said, “The Aam Aadmi Party wants to fight four seats – North East Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi and North West Delhi.” The AAP earlier said it was holding talks with the INDIA bloc partners for a pact in Gujarat, Haryana, Delhi, and Goa. The party has already decided to go alone in Punjab.
AAP national general secretary (organisation) Sandeep Pathak recently said that the party has demanded eight out of 26 Lok Sabha seats from the Congress in Gujarat. He said that the AAP won five seats by polling a total 13 per cent votes in the last Assembly polls in Gujarat and claimed eight Lok Sabha seats in the state for the upcoming polls, while offering remaining 18 to the Congress.
He had also offered one Lok Sabha seat in Delhi to the Congress saying it did not merit even that based on its previous election track record. The Congress currently does not have any Lok Sabha MP or MLA from Delhi. The AAP has so far unilaterally declared its candidates in two seats each in Gujarat and Assam and one in Goa.
Pathak had said that if a decision was not soon taken on seat-sharing in Delhi, his party would declare its candidates. The BJP won all the seven seats in Delhi consecutively in 2014 and 2019 elections. Interestingly, the BJP candidates in 2019 polled more votes than the combined tally of Congress and AAP candidates.
