  • Kerala culls 20k birds after Avian flu reported in Alapuzha district

    Alapuzha, October 28: With the outbreak of avian influenza being confirmed in Kerala’s Alappuzha district, authorities on Thursday started operations to cull 16,000 birds in Haripad municipality to examine the unfold of the illness.

  • Centre deploys 7-member workforce in Kerala to analyze Avian Influenza outbreak

    New Delhi, October 27: The Union Ministry of well being and household welfare has determined to depute a high-level workforce to Kerala after the outbreak of Avian Influenza and submit a report after an in depth investigation on the phenomenon.

    “Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has decided to depute a high-level team to Kerala to take stock of the Avian Influenza outbreak in the state. The team will investigate the outbreak in detail and submit a report with recommendations,” the Union Health Ministry assertion learn.

    The workforce contains 7 specialists from NCDC, AIIMS, and MoHFW.

    “The 7-member Central team to Kerala comprises of experts drawn from the National Institute of Tuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, New Delhi, National Centre for Disease Control, New Delhi, National Institute of Epidemiology, Chennai and All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi. The team is headed by Dr Rajesh Kedamani, Sr RD, Regional Office of Health and Family Welfare, Bangalore,” it added.

    The workforce will help the State Health Departments by way of public well being measures, administration pointers and protocols to handle the rising instances of Avian Influenza being reported by the State.
