  • Covid-19 constructive Vaughan dropped by BT Sport channel from Ashes protection

    Former England captain Michael Vaughan has been dropped from BT Sport channel’s Ashes protection starting December 8, following allegations that he had made racist remarks throughout his stint at Yorkshire county membership in 2009.
    The growth comes a number of days after the BBC’s determination to take away him from their TV protection of the collection.
    Azeem Rafiq, the previous Yorkshire cricketer, had alleged that Vaughan had stated “there are too many of you lot” following the number of 4 gamers of Asian heritage in a county fixture in 2009.

    “The recent report presented to UK Parliament uncovering institutional racism within cricket and specifically Yorkshire County Cricket Club is extremely disappointing and a concern for all,” the channel stated in an announcement as reported by ESPNcricinfo.
    “Given these recent events and the controversy with the situation we have taken the decision that including Michael Vaughan within our Ashes coverage would not be editorially appropriate or fit with BT Sport’s values.”

    BT Sport stated will probably be taking a “hybrid” strategy to their protection, with Vaughan’s on-air stints to be overlaid with studio evaluation.

    “As a result of Covid and travel restrictions BT Sport had made the decision to take our commentary feed from the Australian host broadcaster,” the channel stated.
    “We are still finalising plans but we are assessing the option of taking a hybrid approach, using Fox commentary where possible with the aim of putting our own commentary team in place if necessary.”
    Meanwhile, Vaughan introduced on Twitter that his arrival in Australia will probably be delayed by every week as a result of a constructive COVID-19 check.
    “I’ve had to delay my flight to Australia until next week because of a positive Covid test, which is frustrating. But at least I’ll avoid the rain in Brisbane for a few days! And I’ll be no more under cooked than both teams when I get there.!!” he tweeted.
