Police resolve lacking girl case in Chatra
Sadar police in Chatra on Monday claimed to unravel the lacking case of a girl by arresting her husband Deepak Kumar who confessed to killing the lady and burning the lifeless physique within the forest space. Silver and gold ornaments stolen from Lemboiya temple in Chatra
Thieves broke into the ancient Maa Dakshineshwari Bhagwati Devi Chamunda temple in Pathalgadda block of Chatra on Sunday and stole the silver crown and other gold ornaments on the black stone idol of Goddess Lemboiya.
Temple committee members informed Pathalgadda police as soon as they came to know of the crime, and an FIR was lodged.
Situated on the Lemboiya hill, the temple is several centuries old. Currently, it is being renovated and the thieves took this opportunity to enter the temple through the ventilator.
Priests said that when they opened the temple door, they found the crown and other gold and silver ornaments missing from the idol.
Temple committee members – Basudev Tiwary, Dhanushdhari Ram Dangi and Bakeshwar Dangi – said they found the main gate of the temple locked. The thieves entered through a ventilator and escaped with silver crown and ornaments worth lakhs. Other than the silver crown, a gold maang tikka, a gold netra (eye) were stolen. We want immediate arrest of the thieves, they added.
Officer-in-charge of Pathalgadda police station, Avinash Kumar, who reached the temple soon after getting the information, assured the temple committee members and local residents. He said the investigation started and thieves will be nabbed soon.
The theft has sparked anger in the area as local people claimed that the temple was targeted thrice in the past and ornaments were stolen. The police, however, failed to crack the earlier cases.

Four Covid deaths in Jharkhand, number of active cases below 4,000 after 4 months
RANCHI: Jharkhand recorded four Covid deaths, 269 new infections and 606 recoveries on Thursday, taking the state’s cumulative caseload to 1,05,493. Of these, 3,668 are active cases — the lowest since July 22 — 1,00,908 have recovered and 917 have died. Ranchi, Chatra, Latehar, Palamu reported one death each.
Of the 269 cases detected on Thursday, 65 were from Ranchi while East Singhbhum reported 49 and Dhanbad reported 43 patients each.The number of active cases in Latehar and Giridih fell to 18 and 19 respectively, indicating that these two districts could become Covid-free if precautionary measures are followed strictly. Ranchi and East Singhbhum too reported a decline with 1,116 and 1,012 cases respectively.

Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon tests positive for Covid
Finance Minister Rameshwar Oraon was among the 252 people found to be Covid positive in Jharkhand on Tuesday. Oraon, the sixth minister in the Hemant Soren cabinet to get infected by the lethal virus, was admitted to Bhagwan Mahavir Medica Superspecialty Hospital in Ranchi as a precautionary measure, leaders from the Congress party said.
Oraon had met several bureaucrats, party workers and even chief minister Hemant Soren recently, putting all of them under Covid scanner. Besides, he was actively involved in the preparations for the twin assembly bypolls in Bermo and Dumka.
Until Tuesday, at least five ministers in the Jharkhand Cabinet had tested positive for Covid-19. One of them, Minority Welfare Minister Haji Hussain Ansari died of a cardiac arrest. Health Minister Banna Gupta, Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister Mithilesh Thakur and Agriculture Minister Badal Patralekh also tested positive for Covid-19 earlier and recovered without complaining of any symptoms. However, Covid-infected Education Minister Jagarnath Mahto had to undergo a lung transplant surgery in Chennai.
Meanwhile, five more people died of Covid-19 infection in Jharkhand on Tuesday, taking the toll up at 910, a bulletin released by the National Health Mission (NHM) stated. The casualties occurred in Ranchi, East Singhbhum, Deoghar, Bokaro, Chatra and Giridih. Each of these districts reported one death each. The Covid-19 recovery rate, however, improved on the day as at least 456 patients overcame the virus in 24 hours, government data stated. The total number of Covid recoveries in the state inched towards 1 lakh on the day. As per government data, of the 1,04,940 people infected by the virus so far, 99988 have recovered, taking the recovery rate up at 95.28 per cent.
