India women cricket team have been eliminated from ICC Women’s T20 World Cup after New Zealand beat Pakistan by 54 runs in Sharjah. New Zealand showcased brilliant effort in all departments to make it to the semifinal for the first time since 2016. Pakistan were brave in their approach which bit them back after sending Aliya Riyaz to open with Muneeba Ali to chase. From 19/1, Pakistan got to 28/5 and that is when things started to fall apart for them.

“We were good in the bowling but we need to improve our fielding and batting. We were not up to the mark in batting and the seniors need to step up in that kind of matches. As a bowling unit we were up to the mark, but we need to improve in batting, otherwise we can’t survive in women’s cricket,” said Fatima Sana, Pakistan captain after the loss.

This victory secured New Zealand’s spot in the semi-finals alongside Australia from Group A. The White Ferns finished the group stage with six points, two more than India.

  • ‘India Can Play Active Role To De-Escalate Conflict In Region’: Iran Envoy On West Asia Conflict |

Iranian Ambassador to India Iraj Elahi on Friday said India as a “big power” and “voice” of the Global South can play an “active role” in the de-escalation of conflicts in West Asia. His remarks during an exclusive interview to PTI Videos comes in the backdrop of the escalation in the Israel-Hezbollah conflict and the Israel-Hamas war.

Asked if Iran has reached out to other countries, Elahi said Iran is in close contact with Russia and China, but not in direct contact with India. But Iran “invited India”, as well as other countries who have influence, to use it and ask Israel to de-escalate, he said.

“We believe that the region needs peace and stability. We, as Iran, want a powerful region, instead of a powerful country. Peace and stability is the precondition for the development of a country…

“But we cannot be indifferent to what is happening in Palestine… The ongoing bloodshed in Palestine is something we cannot ignore or neglect,” the Iranian envoy said.

On the recent military operations from the sides of Iran and Israel, he said, “According to our assessment, launching missiles at Israeli military bases and intelligence installations was intended to send a clear message to Israel. We believe this strike successfully hit the territory. ” “The commander of the highest forces has said explicitly that any attack on Iranian interests and infrastructure will receive a strong response from Iran. We will retaliate very strongly,” he also said.

On ties with India, the ambassador said India is a close friend of both Iran and Israel.

“But our relationship goes back 2,000 years, whereas India and Israel’s relationship is not that old. India, as a big power and a voice of the (Global) South, can play an active role in the de-escalation of the region,” Elahi said. Iran hopes that “India uses its influence and capabilities for de-escalation”, he said.

The ambassador noted that Iran is a vast country between two bodies of water.

“In the south of Iran, we have a coastline of more than 4,000 kilometers. Chabahar Port is in the southeast of Iran, and it is very far from the Mediterranean and West Asia.

“The international corridor is not under danger, and the connectivity, which is the backbone of India-Iran relations, is safe,” he said.

The envoy also reiterated that Iran is “safe” for Indians, Iranians and other nationals.

  • India Cruise Into Asian Champions Trophy Final As Harmanpreet Singh Strikes Twice In 4-1 Victory Over South Korea | Other

Skipper Harmanpreet Singh’s sublime form resulted in twin strikes as defending champions India entered the final of the Hero Asian Champions Trophy with a clinical 4-1 win against South Korea in the semi-final on Monday. India scored through Uttam Singh (13th minute), skipper Harmanpreet Singh (19th, 45th) and Jarmanpreet Singh (32nd), while Korea’s lone goal came from through Yang Jihun (33rd)’s penalty corner conversion.

India will take on hosts China in Tuesday’s final. Earlier in the day, China defeated Pakistan 2–0 via shoot-out in the first semifinal after the two teams finished 1–1 at the end of regulation 60 minutes. In the previous league stage encounter between the two finalists, India prevailed 3–0.

Pakistan and Korea will face off in the third place classification match which will also be played on Tuesday. Meanwhile in the fifth-sixth place classification match, Japan beat Malaysia 4-2 in shoot-out following a 4-4 stalemate in normal time.

In the second semifinal as expected, the Indians started on the offensive and tested the Korean defense with persistent attacks from the word go. The Koreans, on the other hand, were contending to sit back and defend and rely on sporadic counter attacks.

Abhishek came tantalizingly close to handing India the lead in the fourth minute but his reverse hit was brilliantly saved by Korean goalkeeper Kim Jaehan. The Indian made promising build ups and penetrated the Korean circle on consistent basis in the first quarter.

India’s attacking intent finally paid off in the 13th minute when Uttam positioned himself at the right place at the right time to tap in Araijeet Singh Hundal’s supply from the right. A minute from the first break, Korea secured back-to-back penalty corners but failed to utilize the chances.

Four minutes into the second quarter, India secured their first penalty corner and Harmanpreet scored his sixth goal of the tournament to hand his side a 2-0 lead. At the stroke of half-time, custodian Suraj Karkera came out of his line to save an effort from the opposition player.

India continued in the same vein after the change of ends and extended their lead two minutes into the third quarter. A brilliant scoop from Sumit from the right finds Jarmanpreet just outside the circle on the left flank and the latter neatly collected the ball and took a step or two to get inside the circle and slap the ball into the Korean goal to extend India’s lead.

But Korea pulled one back a minute later from a penalty corner through the tournament’s top-scorer Yang Jihun. The goal hardly bothered the Indians as they continued their attacking game and dominated the share of exchanges.

With a second left for the third quarter, India secured another penalty corner when Korean goalkeeper Jaehan was shown the yellow card for handling the ball out side the circle, and Harmanpreet made no mistake to extend the lead.

Eight minutes from the final hooter, India’s second goalkeeper Karkera made a fine double save to deny Park Cheoleon, but the Koreans secured a penalty corner which went in vain. Thereafter, it was controlled show from the Indians as they defended their lead with consummate ease to march into their fifth final appearance in the tournament.

On Tuesday, India’s first indigenous unmanned bomber aircraft, the ‘FWD 200 B,’ successfully took to the skies. This is India’s unseen warrior, capable of causing havoc anywhere in the sky while evading enemy detection. Equipped with every essential attribute, this aircraft is designed to be an infallible asset on the battlefield.

India has unveiled its indigenous unmanned bomber aircraft at a time when Turkey had refused to provide India with Bayraktar UAVs. With this development, India joins the ranks of countries possessing their own unmanned bomber UAVs. Until now, only seven countries—the USA, Turkey, Iran, Russia, China, the UK, and Israel—had such capabilities. India is now also on that list.

  • India’s Fiscal Deficit For April-July Stands At 17.2% Of Full-Year Target | Economy News

New Delhi: The Central government’s fiscal deficit in the first four months (April-July) of the current financial year stands at Rs 2.77 lakh crore which works out to 17.2 per cent of the full-year target and is lower than the corresponding figure of 33.9 per cent in the same period last year, according to official data released on Friday.

The data showed that net tax receipts for the period stood at Rs 7.15 lakh crore, or 27.7 per cent of the annual target, which is higher compared with Rs 5.83 lakh crore for the same period last year. The total government expenditure during the period was Rs 13 lakh crore or about 27 percent of the annual target.

“The Government of India’s fiscal deficit more than halved to Rs 2.8 lakh crore or 18 per cent of the FY 2025 budget estimate in April-July FY2025, from Rs. 6.1 lakh crore in April-July FY2024,” ICRA chief economist Aditi Nayar said. .

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has fixed the fiscal deficit at 4.9 per cent of GDP in the Union Budget 2024-25 down from 5.6 per cent in 2023-24, as part of the government’s policy of sticking to the fiscal consolidation path.

  • Seven Months After Lakshadweep Row, Maldives’ Full Throttle Praise For India |

It was in January this year when Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Lakshadweep urging Indians to explore islands of the country. This led to a social media war of words between Indian netizens and Maldivian politicians that escalated into diplomatic tensions. Maldivian President Dr Mohammad Muizzu has been known for his pro-China stance but recently has been trying to take a measured approach while dealing with New Delhi and Beijing.

Shortly after taking office, Muizzu had demanded that India repatriate its military personnel from his country. Following negotiations, India agreed to withdraw its personnel by the mutually set deadline of May 10, replacing them with civilian staff. This move further strained relations between the two nations.

Bilateral ties had recently shown signs of improvement following External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s three-day visit, which aimed to ease months of tension since the pro-China Muizzu assumed office last November. During his visit earlier this month, Jaishankar met with the top leadership of the archipelagic nation, including President Muizzu. Prior to this, Muizzu had visited New Delhi for the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s new government in June.

The Maldivian Foreign Minister, Moosa Zameer, recently remarked that India has emerged as the world’s largest and most diverse democracy, setting an example that inspires many nations, including the Maldives. Reflecting on the long-standing partnership between Maldives and India, which, he said, is “rooted in its people and strengthened through our active bilateral cooperation,” Zameer reiterated the firm commitment of President Dr Mohammad Muizzu’s government “to strengthen and deepen” the robust relationship between our two countries “for the mutual benefit of our people.” Zameer was speaking as a chief guest at a function on the 78th Independence Day of India in Male.

Calling it an “honor” to serve as the chief guest at the event, Zameer conveyed warm greetings and best wishes on behalf of President Muizzu, the Government, and the people of the Maldives to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Modi, and the friendly people of India.

“(I) Congratulated India for their remarkable journey, one of profound significance and inspiration. India has emerged as the world’s largest and most diverse democracy that leads by example inspiring many countries, including the Maldives,” Zameer posted on X after the event. “I reflected on the long-standing partnership between Maldives and India — a partnership rooted in its people and strengthened through our active bilateral cooperation,” he said.

He reiterated the firm commitment of President Dr Muizzu’s Government to strengthen and deepen the robust relationship between our two countries for the mutual benefit of our people. Zameer, in his longish post, said he also thanked External Affairs Minister Jaishankar for his unwavering support “to enhancing our bilateral ties.” He thanked India’s ambassador to the Maldives Munu Mahawar for hosting the event.

Mahawar, replying to his post, thanked Zameer for gracing “this celebration of our lasting friendship” and said: “We are confident that under the leadership of PM @narendramodi and President @MMuizzu, our relationship will scale new heights and the bonds of friendship. will become even stronger.” Earlier, the Indian mission said in a post on symphony of Indian and Maldivian vocal and dance performances, including a medley of Indian and Maldivian songs and special dance performances by artists from India and Maldives.
