  • Krishna Janmabhoomi row: HC restores plea searching for elimination of Mathura’s Shahi Idgah mosque

    PRAYAGRAJ: The Allahabad High Court has restored a petition searching for the elimination of Mathura’s Shahi Idgah Mosque, which is claimed to be constructed on Krishna Janambhoomi, the birthplace of Lord Krishna.

    The most important petition was dismissed in default on January 19, 2021, because the petitioner appeared in individual and never by way of a lawyer. The utility for restoration was filed instantly thereafter.

    In an order on February 17, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Prakash Padia restored the plea on grounds that the appliance to revive it was filed with none delay.

    “For the reason stated in the application, the same is allowed. Order dated January 19, 2021, dismissing the main petition in default is recalled. Let the main petition be now listed as per roster on July 25, 2022,” the court docket mentioned.

    Earlier in 2020, a Mathura court docket had dismissed a plea searching for the elimination of the mosque.
