  • MP Dam Water Level: 8 gates of Indira Sagar Dam and 7 gates of Omkareshwar Dam opened, alert issued in lower settlements

    Water is being released into Narmada by opening seven gates of Omkareshwar Dam.

    A total of 2848 cumecs of water was released from Indira Sagar Dam. The water level increased due to opening of seven gates of Omkareshwar Dam. The water level of Narmada increased due to release of water from Omkareshwar.

    Naiduniya Representative, Khandwa/Omkareshwar/Mundi: Due to the rain in the upper regions of Narmada valley and the opening of the gates of the dams, the level of the reservoir of Indira Sagar Dam is also increasing. In view of this, water is being released into the Narmada River on Sunday by increasing the number of gates of Indira Sagar and Omkareshwar Dam. The water level of the Narmada River has increased due to the opening of eight gates of Indira Sagar Dam and seven gates of Omkareshwar Dam in the afternoon.

    The water level of Indira Sagar Dam is 261.5 meters. Eight gates of the dam project were opened up to a height of 1.5 meters from 4 pm on Sunday afternoon. About 1008 cumecs of water is being released through them. At the same time, 1840 cumecs of water is being released from the turbine of the power house, due to which a total of 2848 cumecs of water is being released in the downstream of Narmada and it is reaching the lower area.

    Two gates of Indira Sagar Dam were open since August 7. The reservoir of Indira Sagar Dam has an inflow of about 3200 cumecs of water from Handia side and about 300 cumecs of water from the rivers of the upper regions of Khandwa district. Here, the gates of Bargi and Tawa dams have been lowered.

    3090 cumecs water released

    On Sunday, seven gates of the Omkareshwar Dam Project were opened. About 3090 cumecs of water is being released from these. The water level of Narmada has risen by four to five feet. The administration has issued an alert in the lower settlements. At the same time, a joint team of Nagar Parishad, SDERF, Police Department is present at the Ghats of Omkareshwar. The shopkeepers and boat operators of the Ghats have also been alerted. If there is continuous heavy rainfall in the upper region, then more water can be released from the Omkareshwar Dam Project, due to which the water level of Maa Narmada can increase.

    3090 cumecs of water is being released

    Till Sunday morning, the water level of Omkareshwar dam was 195.52 meters. 118 cumecs of water was being released from one open gate of the dam and 1896 cumecs from the power house, i.e. a total of 2012 cumecs of water was being released. In the afternoon, due to the inflow of 2848 cumecs of water from Indira Sagar dam, seven gates of Omkareshwar dam were opened up to a height of five meters from 2.30 pm. 1194 cumecs of water is being released from these and 1896 cumecs from the power house, i.e. a total of 3090 cumecs of water is being released.
