The work of flyover 1020 meter long Harau Bridge is not completed, traffic system on Harau has deteriorated

Naiduniya representative, Indore. The work of Rau Bridge on Indore-Dewas bypass is not complete. Despite extending the deadline three times, the bridge has not been opened for vehicles. The bridge has been asphalted by laying fly ash. But the work of service road has had to be stopped because the officers of National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) believe that if the work of bridge and service road is done simultaneously, then the traffic system on Rau will deteriorate.

Now the construction agency has been asked to complete the bridge which is in its final stages by August. Then traffic will be started on the bridge. After fifteen days of normal traffic, the repair work of the service road will begin. NHAI has insisted the agency to complete the work by October.

The wait for opening of Rau Bridge has been going on for the last eight months

First the deadline was set for December 2023, then March 2024 and July 2024. Due to the slow pace of construction work, the agency had to repeatedly extend the deadline. Every time NHAI gives a new reason behind this. First it was said that fly ash was not available. Later the asphalting and the design of Rau Circle were said to be incomplete.

Despite the deadline, the agency is negligent in not completing the work on time. The repair of three km of service road is still pending. Even the asphalting of the bridge has not been completed. The deadline to complete this work is October.

NHAI Project Director Sumesh Banjal says that if the work of both bridge and service road is done simultaneously, then the traffic will be affected. The service road will be constructed after the bridge is started. He says that fifty thousand cubic meters of fly ash has been procured for the bridge, which has been laid on the bridge.
