There was a ruckus in Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple on Friday morning when the security guards present there stopped the devotees wearing shorts with Mahakal written on them. The number of such devotees was not one or two but 12. Everyone was immediately given towels and their shorts were removed and other clothes were given to wear. After this, all the devotees were also instructed not to wear such clothes.

    According to the information, in the month of Sawan, a large number of devotees including Kanwar pilgrims are visiting the Mahakal temple wearing saffron clothes. On Friday morning, the security guard noticed some devotees who were wearing shorts with Mahakal written on them.

    On this, the security guards immediately stopped them. After this, strict checking started and 12 devotees were found wearing such clothes. All of them were asked to remove these clothes and were immediately given other clothes. After this, all of them were also told that this hurts sentiments. Go to the temple wearing such clothes. Some devotees also apologized for this.

    Priests have protested regarding clothes

    Priests have been demanding to implement a dress code in Mahakal temple. Earlier also devotees have been entering the temple wearing clothes of their choice. Youths reach the temple to have darshan even in Bermuda, night suits and shorts. Devotees have been asked to come to the temple wearing decent clothes.

    Do not wear clothes with God’s name written on them

    Priests say that devotees should not wear clothes with God’s name written on them. On the other hand, there are many shops in Ujjain city where dogs and clothes with Mahakal written on them and Tripund on them are being sold.

    Darshan for general public from 12.40 pm

    The series of general darshan will start at around 12.40 pm in the Nagchandreshwar temple, which will continue till 12 midnight of 9 August. On Nag Panchami, there will be separate arrangements for darshan in Mahakal and Nagchandreshwar temple. Trikal puja of Lord Nagchandreshwar will be performed. According to tradition, Trikal puja of Lord Nagchandreshwar is prescribed on Nag Panchami.

    The first puja will be performed by the Mahant of Mahanirvani Akhara at 12 midnight on August 8. The second puja will be performed by the administrative officer on behalf of the government at 12 noon on August 9. The third puja will be performed by the priests of Mahakal temple after the evening aarti of Lord Mahakal at 7.30 pm on August 9.

    Such will be the arrangement for darshan in Nagchandreshwar temple

    To have darshan of Lord Nagchandreshwar, the visitors will take off their shoes at the shoe stand set up at Bhil Samaj Dharamshala and walk in three rows through the road near Ganga Garden, Chardham Temple parking zigzag, from Harsiddhi square, near the wall of Rudra Sagar via Vikram Tila, enter the temple through gates four and five from in front of Bada Ganesh Temple and have darshan of Lord Shri Nagchandreshwar via Vishramdham, Aero Bridge.

    After the darshan, the devotees will reach their destination via Aero Bridge, Vishram Dham Ramp, Marble Corridor, through the newly constructed road near Palki Gate, Prepaid Booth Tiraha, Harsiddhi Chauraha from in front of Bada Ganesh, Nrusinha Ghat Tiraha from the road in front of Harsiddhi Dharamshala.

    Mahakal Temple

    Devotees visiting Lord Mahakal on Nag Panchami will visit Lord Mahakal from the Nandi gate of Mahakal Mahalok, Mansarovar Facility Center, Kartikeya and Ganesh Mandap through the tunnel. After that they will exit the temple from the emergency exit gate.
