Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj: Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal is about to play the function of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in his subsequent movie, director Laxman Utekar confirmed. The Mimi fame director, who has collaborated with Kaushal on a yet-to-be-released romantic comedy, stated the actor was the right selection for the historic function. Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is the son of the founding father of the Maratha empire, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
“His personality, like his height and physique matches that of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. He is also a fabulous performer. We didn’t do any look test, I was sure that he is the one who can play Sambhaji,” Utekar informed PTI. “He will train for four months in sword fighting, horse riding, and a few other things. And once we are satisfied, we will start shooting,” he stated.
The cinematographer-director stated he was eager to discover the story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj on the massive display screen. “We have seen many movies on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj however no one is aware of how massive a warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj was, or his contribution in the direction of the Maratha empire and to Maharashtra,’ Utekar added.
The director stated the movie is within the pre-production stage and the shoot will begin in August-September. The untitled movie is backed by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, with whom Utekar has collaborated on two profitable movies — Luka Chuppi and Mimi — prior to now.
Utekar revealed that at the moment, post-production work is underway on his romantic-comedy movie that includes Kaushal and Sara Ali Khan. ‘The movie is prepared, it should launch theatrically in April,” he stated.
