The Tata Nexon, a compact SUV launched on September 21, 2017, celebrates its eighth year in the market. The Nexon is unique, being available with petrol, diesel, electric, and CNG powertrains. Tata Motors has sold 8,87,607 units of the Nexon. The sales are approaching 900,000 by the end of September, making it the first Tata SUV to achieve this figure.
The Nexon was a top-selling SUV in India for several years. However, it was overtaken by the Punch in the fiscal years 2022, 2023, and 2024. The demand is increasing again in the current fiscal year, and further growth is expected after price reductions due to GST. The stylish compact SUV played a significant role in Tata Motors’ revival. By the end of August 2025, total domestic sales reached 8,87,607 units, leaving it only 12,393 units away from reaching 900,000.
The Nexon reached 200,000 sales 45 months after its launch, in June 2021. The next 200,000 units were sold in 16 months, reaching 400,000 units in October 2022. From 400,000 to 500,000 took 6 months and from 500,000 to 600,000, it took 7 months. The 700,000 sales mark was achieved in July 2024, and the 800,000 mark was passed in February 2025. The 900,000 sales record is set to be reached in September 2025, eight years and one month after its launch.
The base model of the Tata Nexon is priced starting from ₹7.32 lakh, while the top model goes up to ₹14.05 lakh (average ex-showroom).
