April Engineering Exports Hit $10.35 Billion, Up 9%
1 min readEngineering exports have begun the new fiscal year on a firm footing. According to EEPC India, outbound shipments of engineering goods reached $10.35 billion in April, marking an annual increase of nearly 9 percent.
Growth was broad-based. Aluminium products jumped 38 percent, copper items surged 80 percent, and electrical machinery rose 9.5 percent. Shipments of two- and three-wheelers climbed 36 percent, while auto components advanced 7.2 percent.
Pankaj Chadha, Chairman of EEPC India, noted that although regional conflicts have strained logistics in parts of West Asia and North Africa, most sectors maintained momentum. Exports to China recorded an impressive 81.7 percent rise to $301 million.
Top markets included the US, UK, and Germany. Meanwhile, the UAE, Singapore, and Saudi Arabia registered lower shipments. North America and the EU posted increases of 7.1 percent and 13 percent respectively.
Chadha emphasised that India’s network of free-trade agreements can deliver further gains if market-access barriers are addressed promptly. The engineering goods sector accounted for 23.8 percent of total merchandise exports during the month.
