Export momentum in India’s electronics hardware sector shows no signs of slowing, with 2024-25 figures revealing a 32.47% annual increase to $38.58 billion. The Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) shared this encouraging data in a report issued Wednesday.

From $29.12 billion in 2023-24, growth was propelled by telecom innovations, especially smartphones, which leaped from $15.57 billion to a forecasted $24.14 billion—now the sector’s cornerstone.

Smartphone export markets are led by the United States (44%), with UAE (11%), Netherlands (9%), UK (6%), and Italy (5%) rounding out the top five. Regionally, North America absorbed $14.70 billion, Europe $11.45 billion.

As ESC Chairman Vir Sagar explained, ‘India Tech’ initiatives are pivotal in guiding firms toward untapped potentials in Africa, Latin America, CIS, ASEAN, and SAARC, while fortifying positions in veteran markets like North America and Europe.

Gurmeet Singh, the council’s Executive Director, celebrated the hardware upswing, crediting telecom equipment and smartphones. Standouts include tripled exports to Russia/CIS at $1.10 billion, $5.20 billion to the Middle East, and a 48.56% rise to Korea/Japan at $1.75 billion.

Tamil Nadu spearheaded state exports at $15 billion, followed by Karnataka ($7.85 billion), Uttar Pradesh ($5.30 billion), Maharashtra ($3.60 billion), Gujarat ($2.80 billion), and Delhi ($1 billion). This multi-state proliferation marks a pivotal shift, transforming India’s electronics landscape into a robust, widespread network set to dominate international trade.
