Microsoft Ends Free Windows 10 Security Support, Introducing Paid Updates

Microsoft is altering its support strategy for Windows 10, discontinuing free security support after October 2025. This means Windows 10 users will no longer receive free security updates, technical assistance, or software upgrades. While systems will remain operational, this change will increase security risks. To address this, Microsoft is offering Extended Security Updates (ESU) for an annual fee of approximately ₹2500 (around $30). This service provides essential security patches but does not include new features or technical support. Users can also use Microsoft Rewards Points to access ESU. Additionally, OneDrive provides 5GB of free cloud storage, with options for 100GB at a yearly fee. To maintain security without any cost, users should implement the following: install and update antivirus software, keep browsers and internet software updated, avoid untrusted links and websites, and back up critical files. Upgrading to Windows 11 offers enhanced security features and better overall performance.
