WhatsApp has launched a new AI-powered feature called ‘Writing Help’ designed to improve the clarity and impact of user messages. The feature, powered by Meta’s Private Processing, allows users to rephrase their texts in different tones, such as professional, funny, or supportive, while maintaining the privacy of their messages. The technology has been independently audited and verified to protect user data. The ‘Writing Help’ feature is optional, and users must enable it in their settings. Initially, it’s available in English in the U.S. and select countries, with plans for wider language support. When composing a message, a pencil icon allows access to the AI’s suggestions, providing an easy way to refine messages.
