The future of Paytm UPI looks secure, as it will continue operating after August 31st. The updates mainly concern recurring payments, specifically those tied to subscriptions. Users who use Paytm UPI for services like YouTube Premium, Google One Storage, or similar offerings will need to update their UPI handle. Instead of the previous @paytm handle, users should adopt new handles like @pthdfc, @ptaxis, @ptyes, or @ptsbi. Rest assured, regular one-time UPI payments, such as those for apps on Google Play or at merchant locations, will function as before. This transition arises from Paytm’s approval as a Third-Party Application Provider (TPAP) by NPCI, leading to the migration to new bank-partnered handles. The August 31st deadline marks the implementation of new rules starting September 1st, impacting subscriptions linked to the old @paytm handle. To prevent any disruption, users are urged to update their UPI ID in the Paytm app to reflect the new handle. Users can also choose to manage recurring payments through other UPI apps (PhonePe, Google Pay, BHIM UPI, WhatsApp UPI) or utilize debit or credit cards for their subscriptions.
