Google today honors famous economist Sir William with Doodle

Sir William Arthur Lewis Noble Laureate and Professor of Political Economy at Princeton University. Sir William was known for his outstanding contribution to the field of economic development. In 1979, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Economics.

Most of Sir William’s life was spent teaching in many universities of the world. He worked at Princeton University for nearly 20 years. His fame was such that many countries wanted to give him his citizenship. Sir William Arthur Lewis had citizenship of two countries, St. Lucian and British.

Sir William Arthur Lewis was born on 3 January 1915 in Castries, St. Lucia. He died on 5 June 1991 in Bridgetown, Barbados. Sir William was buried in the grounds of St. Lucian Community College, named in his honor.
