    Wing Commander Namansh Syal’s life of service and sacrifice was remembered with deep sorrow following his tragic death in a Tejas fighter jet crash during the Dubai Air Show. His wife, Wing Commander Afshan Syal, performed the final rites with a tearful salute in their ancestral village, Patialkar, Himachal Pradesh. The incident on November 21, 2025, involved the HAL-designed Tejas Light Combat Aircraft losing control during an aerial display. The 34-year-old officer, known for his athletic excellence and dedication, was posted at the Hyderabad airbase and leaves behind his wife, daughter Aarya, and parents. The Indian Air Force praised his “exceptional skill” and “unyielding sense of duty,” acknowledging him as a “dedicated fighter pilot.” The Southern Air Command vowed that his “courage and dedication” would continue to inspire. The solemn send-off, attended by UAE officials and representatives from the Indian Embassy, highlighted the widespread respect he garnered. The IAF expressed solidarity with his family, honoring his “legacy of courage and devotion.” In Patialkar, villagers recalled their “gem” with pride, reminiscing about his childhood and accomplishments. The Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister joined in paying tribute to the “brave son of India.”
