Tejashwi Yadav, a key figure in the RJD, has declared himself as the chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, citing consensus within the India alliance. He has promised a transformation of Bihar, likening it to Scotland. He targeted BJP leaders, criticizing their approach and accusing them of promoting division. Yadav stated that his government would prioritize governance free from caste and religious politics.
He made remarks concerning Sudhanshu Trivedi and also addressed his brother, Tej Pratap Yadav. His declaration follows a similar statement by Congress leader Kanhaiya Kumar.
Kanhaiya Kumar previously said that if the Mahagathbandhan wins a majority in the assembly elections, the Chief Minister would come from the RJD, highlighting the party’s significant role within the alliance.
Bihar’s political environment is highly charged, with both the ruling and opposition parties engaging in debates. Tejashwi Yadav, before formally announcing his CM candidacy, predicted the defeat of the NDA and the formation of a Grand Alliance government. He further pledged to repeal the Waqf Act upon assuming power.
He asserted that the RJD, under the leadership of Lalu Prasad Yadav, would actively oppose the act and has already taken legal action against it. He appealed to the Muslim community, emphasizing the imminent change in government and the formation of a new government that would prioritize the needs of the poor and abolish the Waqf Act.
Tejashwi criticized the BJP, stating that the nation’s freedom was earned through the sacrifices of various communities and that the country should not be viewed as private property. He also addressed the special revision of the electoral roll, promising to counter any efforts to disenfranchise voters.
