Nitish Kumar, the Chief Minister of Bihar, has declared a new domicile policy, which will give preference to Bihar residents in the recruitment of teachers. The Education Department will amend the rules for this purpose, and the policy will be effective from TRE-4. Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD leader and Leader of the Opposition, responded to this announcement with sharp criticism.

Tejashwi Yadav posted on X, questioning how the Chief Minister felt about the government seemingly copying the opposition’s policies. He expressed his satisfaction that the NDA government, which had previously rejected the domicile policy and dismissed implementing it, is now adopting the policy, mirroring other initiatives proposed by the opposition.

In his post, Yadav stated that the NDA government has no independent policies, vision or direction. He added that the people of Bihar are happy to see a government that has lacked clear direction for two decades now adopting the opposition’s ideas.

Yadav also highlighted that the government is imitating the opposition’s proposals on several fronts, including social security pensions, free electricity, job creation, and increasing the wages of various workers. He concluded that this fear of the opposition is a positive development.

CM Kumar stated that his government has been working to improve the education system since its formation in November 2005. He announced that the Education Department will amend the rules to prioritize Bihar residents in teacher recruitment. TRE-4 will be held in 2025 and TRE-5 in 2026. The STET exam will be conducted before TRE-5.
