The Patna district administration has sent a follow-up letter to RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav regarding his voter ID card. The administration is requesting the submission of his second voter ID for investigation purposes. Yadav had previously referenced this second card during a press conference. The district administration had previously requested the card on August 2. The Election Commission has preliminarily found that the second voter ID may be invalid.

The Election Commission is encouraging all political parties and voters to participate in the creation of an accurate voter list, emphasizing the importance of filing claims and objections. The commission’s commitment to fair elections is underscored by its focus on removing ineligible voters and including eligible ones, which is central to the SVEEP initiative.

Tejashwi Yadav’s valid EPIC number is RAB0456228. The EPIC number RAB2916120, which he cited during a press conference, has no record. As a result, the Election Commission has issued a notice to Yadav, requesting the original voter ID cards. This issue has become a point of contention in state politics ahead of the assembly elections.

The controversy began with Yadav’s claim that his name was not on the draft voter list. He shared the EPIC number RAB2916120, which led to a ‘no record found’ message. The Election Commission subsequently confirmed that his name was on the draft list.

The Election Commission has stated that Yadav’s name is associated with the EPIC number RAB0456228 (Patliputra constituency, polling station 204, serial number 416). He used this number in the 2015 and 2020 assembly elections. The second EPIC number is not in the official records and may be a fraudulent document.

The Election Commission is investigating the matter and has sent a further notice to Tejashwi Yadav, seeking clarification on the RAB2916120 number. To date, he has not responded, and he has previously characterized the situation as a political conspiracy, claiming his EPIC number had been changed.
