Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly reminisced on social media after India’s strong performance on the first day of the first Test against England at Headingley. Tendulkar praised the centuries of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, comparing them to the 2002 Headingley Test where he, Ganguly, and Rahul Dravid all scored centuries. India achieved a memorable victory in that match.

Ganguly humorously noted the current pitch conditions might favor batsmen, potentially allowing for four Indian centurions. He playfully added Pant and Karun Nair to the list.

Shubman Gill, the Indian captain, scored a century as India finished day one at 359/3 in the first Test against England at Leeds. Gill and Rishabh Pant remained unbeaten with scores of 127 and 65, respectively. Jaiswal was dismissed after scoring a century. India reached 92/2 at lunch, with the Gill and Jaiswal partnership playing a crucial role. The opening partnership between Jaiswal and KL Rahul was 91 runs. England took two wickets in five balls. Sai Sudharsan, making his debut, was dismissed early.
