A government secondary school in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan was targeted in a bomb attack. The incident, attributed to terrorists, occurred in the Karabag area of Barmal tehsil in the South Waziristan district. The bombing resulted in significant damage to the school building, including several classrooms and the perimeter walls. Thankfully, there were no reported injuries. The recent surge in unrest in the region has created an environment of fear, which has severely impacted educational activities, according to police. Furthermore, three bridges have been damaged by explosions, impacting the Wana-Azam Warsak highway and causing problems for the local population. Local residents have expressed their concern and requested the government to launch an immediate investigation and increase security measures. Earlier, on June 6, a government secondary school in Akbari village within the Tank district was also targeted with explosives, causing damage to multiple classrooms. The TTP splinter group operating in Tank district, which is known to oppose girls’ education, is believed to be behind these attacks.
