A swift police investigation in West Singhbhum district has led to the arrest of three individuals accused of murdering para-teacher Mukru Degam. The 50-year-old victim, a resident of Purnachasaiba, was attending the weekly market at Purnapani Bazaar Tola on November 29th when the fatal altercation occurred.

The incident, which took place within the Tonto police station’s jurisdiction, was reportedly triggered by a disagreement concerning ‘handiya’, a local brew. The suspects, identified as Soma Sundi (25), Seenu Gaur (20), and Mangal Karowa (20), are alleged to have attacked Degam with stones and sticks, causing his death.

After the crime, the perpetrators attempted to evade capture. However, under the command of Superintendent of Police and led by Jagannathpur Sub-Divisional Police Officer Raifal Murmu, a dedicated team was formed. Utilizing advanced technical tracking methods, the police successfully located and arrested the three accused in the village of Kenjra on November 30th, showcasing an efficient response.

All suspects have reportedly confessed to their participation in the murder during police questioning. Their confessions have aided in the recovery of vital evidence, including a blood-stained stone, a wooden stick used in the attack, and the clothes worn by the perpetrators at the time. This prompt action by the police provides a significant step towards ensuring accountability for this tragic event.
