Kolkata police have arrested three individuals following allegations of gang-rape involving a student at a local Law College. The suspects include two members of the college staff and one former student. The area within the college where the alleged assault took place has been cordoned off by authorities. The accused, Manojit Mishra, Zaib Ahmed, and Pramit Mukhopadhyay, are now under police custody until July 1. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has expressed serious concern and launched its own investigation into the matter. The NCW is calling for a swift inquiry and is pushing for comprehensive assistance for the victim, including medical, psychological, and legal aid, and also financial compensation. The Commission has requested a full report detailing the actions taken within three days. Azam Khan, the lawyer representing Manojit Mishra, confirmed that the accusations concern gang-rape, which purportedly took place within the college. The court has remanded the accused to police custody until July 1.
