Tragedy struck in Paliganj, close to Patna, when three siblings, visiting their maternal grandparents for Raksha Bandhan, died after drinking milk. The incident took place in Khiri Par village, under Khirimor police station. The children, who came with their mother, became sick on the night of Raksha Bandhan, prompting their family to take them to a private hospital in Paliganj.

Following an assessment of their health, the children were referred to Arwal Sadar Hospital for further medical attention. Sadly, two of the siblings died during treatment. The third child subsequently died on Tuesday evening while being treated in Patna. The deceased children were all siblings.

The children’s maternal grandfather, Kamlesh Thakur, a resident of Khiripar village, had hosted the family for Raksha Bandhan. On Monday evening, after dinner, the children were given milk. Shortly afterward, they began to experience severe health issues, prompting their family to rush them to a nearby private hospital.

The children were later referred to Arwal Sadar Hospital. While receiving treatment, two of the children passed away. The third child, Nidhi Kumari, who was in a critical condition, was referred to PMCH, where she later died. Kamlesh Thakur, the children’s maternal grandfather, explained that the children’s health rapidly deteriorated after consuming the milk. The deaths of 5-year-old Vikas Kumar and 3-year-old Mohit Kumar were confirmed at the hospital.

The milk was sourced from the home of Rambabu Mahto, located in Khiri Par village in Paliganj. The Food Safety Department is scheduled to visit the site.

The deceased children were the children of Mohan Thakur. Mohan is working in Surat. The family was preparing for the wedding of Ritesh Thakur, Mohan’s brother-in-law. Now, instead of wedding festivities, their home is filled with grief.
