The countdown to Union Budget 2026-27 is on, with less than two weeks remaining, prompting experts to propose game-changing ideas for job-rich growth. Speaking to IANS, Sanjeev Kumar Gupta from Karnataka Digital Economy Mission stressed that MSMEs in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities must embrace technology swiftly through budget allocations.

Contributing $1.5 trillion and growing at 10 percent, these MSMEs stand to skyrocket to 18 percent with tech integration. Gupta called for a new policy in the budget to facilitate this shift, expressing confidence in governmental action.

He proposed Digital Economy Zones in these cities to foster about 100 dynamic growth engines, decentralizing economic power from metros.

Additionally, with roughly one lakh startups thriving there, a targeted scheme could expand this to five lakh, unleashing employment opportunities on an unprecedented scale.

Finance Minister will table the budget on February 1 at 11 AM—a Sunday first since 2000—continuing the trend of non-traditional timings seen in 2025 and 2015 budgets.
