    The Election Commission has decided to implement Special Intensive Revision (SIR) across India. The EC has reviewed the preparations for the Bihar assembly elections. The elections will take place before November 22, 2025. The EC has launched the ECINet platform, which will provide various facilities in one place, saving users from visiting different apps or websites.

    Darjeeling, West Bengal, experienced heavy rainfall which led to landslides. The landslides resulted in 20 fatalities. Rescue operations are ongoing, involving local people, the army, and NGOs. Relief camps are providing shelter. The Chief Minister has announced compensation for the victims.

    The central government is taking a strong stance on cough syrup quality. Union Health Secretary Punya Salil Srivastava has met with state and union territory officials. All drug manufacturers have been directed to follow the quality standards under the revised Schedule M, with the possibility of license revocation if they don’t comply. This follows concerns about cough syrup issues in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.

    Air travel during Diwali will be more accessible as airlines are set to increase the number of flights. The DGCA has instructed airlines to operate extra flights to address high ticket prices. IndiGo, Air India, and SpiceJet will be running around 1,762 additional flights on over 100 routes. The DGCA will be monitoring airfares. The goal is to meet rising travel demand and maintain affordable prices.
