In a statement, Daniel Levy addressed the decision to remove Ange Postecoglou as Tottenham Hotspur manager. The board reached a collective decision on June 6, 2025, independent of the club’s Europa League win. Levy acknowledged the significance of the Europa League success but reiterated the club’s larger ambitions, particularly the Premier League title, which Tottenham hasn’t won since 1961. The club aims to bring in Thomas Frank to fulfill these ambitions.

Levy said, “You saw the outpouring of emotion with the parade. It was just incredible. We’ve won a European trophy.” However, he also stated, “But it’s not enough. It’s what we haven’t done that is more important. We need to win the league. We want to win the Premier League. We want to win the Champions League. We want to win.”

He emphasized his determination: “Failure is not an option.” Levy expressed gratitude for Postecoglou’s contributions, highlighting the fifth-place finish in his first season and the trophy win in his second.

Levy stated that the club needed to compete in all competitions, and that this led to the change in management. He confirmed a positive relationship with Postecoglou and that the decision was made collectively. Levy is looking forward to a new beginning with a new coach and building on the previous season’s successes. He praised Thomas Frank’s intelligence, communication skills, and technical aspects.
