A new player is entering the Indian cafe racer market on August 6th: the Triumph Thruxton 400. This model expands Triumph’s 400cc range, joining the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X, which have already established themselves in the entry-level premium segment. The addition of the Thruxton 400 is set to enhance Triumph’s market position.

This motorcycle is the third model built on Triumph’s 400cc platform, developed in collaboration with Bajaj Auto. It is poised to compete with offerings like the Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450.

    Engine Specifications

At its core, the Thruxton 400 features the same 398cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine found in the Speed 400 and Scrambler 400X. In the existing models, this engine delivers 39.5 bhp of power and 37.5 Nm of torque, coupled with a 6-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. There might be some retuning of the engine for the Thruxton to improve its sporty performance and throttle response.

    Pricing Analysis

The Speed 400 is currently priced at ₹2.40 lakh, and the Scrambler 400X at ₹2.65 lakh (ex-showroom). Given the premium styling and positioning of the Thruxton 400, its price is likely to be around ₹2.80 lakh (ex-showroom), making it the most expensive model in Triumph’s 400cc lineup in India.

    Design Details

Spy shots of the Triumph Thruxton 400 have surfaced on social media, revealing a design that blends retro aesthetics with a stylish, British-inspired look. A prominent feature is the front fairing, which draws inspiration from fighter jets. The bike is expected to include a round LED headlight, enhancing its aggressive look. The design incorporates low-set clip-on handlebars and slightly rear-set foot pegs, providing a sporty riding position typical of cafe racer motorcycles.
