Trump: Putin and Zelenskyy Face Hurdles to Peace, but Dialogue is Needed

Former US President Donald Trump, speaking during ‘The People’s House Exhibit,’ observed that facilitating a meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian President Vladimir Putin is a complex endeavor, similar to attempting to mix oil and vinegar. The former President is aiming for the leaders to work toward ending the war in Ukraine. Trump is eager to mediate a peace agreement, stating he has successfully mediated other conflicts in the past. He stated that the conflict is costing Ukraine approximately 7,000 casualties a week, primarily soldiers. Trump has accused both sides of a lack of sincerity in negotiations. He has warned Russia of potential sanctions, including tariffs on oil, if a deal is not reached and they are deemed responsible. Putin has expressed a willingness to meet with Zelenskyy, provided there’s an appropriate agenda, but no plan for such a meeting is currently in place.
