The Trump administration has declared its intention to supply more defensive weapons to Ukraine, marking a resumption of military assistance after a brief pause. This decision was revealed after a temporary halt on some deliveries. The President affirmed that the U.S. would provide additional weaponry to support Ukraine’s self-defense capabilities. This decision was made in the context of reviewing U.S. military spending and foreign aid priorities. The discussions with both Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky influenced this decision. Trump’s assessment of his conversation with Putin was negative, but the call with Zelensky was seen positively. This announcement follows escalating Russian attacks and Zelensky’s calls for more robust air defenses. The U.S. has been the primary source of military assistance to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion.
