Former U.S. President Donald Trump is scheduled to visit South Korea in late October, coinciding with the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. During this visit, a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping is being considered. The potential meeting occurs at a time of heightened trade tensions between the U.S. and China. Additionally, Trump is also contemplating a meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. The APEC summit is scheduled to take place in Gyeongju. Trump’s visit aims to boost economic investments within the United States, focusing on discussions related to trade, defense, and nuclear cooperation. Trump met with South Korean President Lee Jae-myung at the White House. The meeting was also a platform for the South Korean President to invite Trump for the APEC Summit and also propose a meeting between Trump and Kim. Trump has met Kim Jong Un three times during his previous term in office.
