A shocking incident in Giridih’s Birni police station area saw a wild elephant herd attack villagers on Monday morning, leading to two fatalities and one serious injury. The attack took place in Gadi village.

Shanti Devi and Bodhi Pandit lost their lives after being trampled by the elephants. Sudama Devi, a resident of Pesham village, is in critical condition and receiving hospital treatment in Giridih.

Sources indicate the victims were going about their morning routines near their fields when the herd encountered them. The elephants’ aggression was sudden and devastating. Emergency services, including forest rangers and police, were mobilized to the site.

Authorities have confirmed the loss of life and confirmed that immediate relief measures, including financial aid, have been provided to the affected families. The primary objective now is to ensure the safety of the villagers by safely relocating the wild elephants. The injured woman’s medical care remains a priority, with doctors working to stabilize her condition.
