The recent release of Teja Sajja’s ‘Mirai’ has sparked interest in a previous film of the same name that originated in Japan. The Japanese version, released in 2018, was a box office hit. While both films share a title, their plots differ significantly. The Japanese ‘Mirai’ tells the story of a young boy who time travels through a magical garden at his home. The Indian ‘Mirai’ centers on a warrior’s mission to protect sacred texts. Additionally, the films belong to different genres, with Teja Sajja’s film being a sci-fi action thriller and the Japanese version being an animated movie. The Japanese movie was directed by Mamoru Hosoda and earned approximately 253 crore rupees. Teja Sajja’s film has performed very well.
